Nollywood actor Sunny Alli has said he does not believe in money rituals or stories about witchcraft, explaining that he prefers creating films based on real-life experiences rather than unverified supernatural claims.
Speaking on an episode of Oyinmomo on YouTube, the actor said he deliberately avoids including scenes such as witches’ gatherings in his scripts because, in his view, there is no evidence to prove such events exist.
“There are some lines that can never be in my scripts. Like witch meetings, I feel it is not realistic because we do not know if it is true. No one has experienced it. Do they rent a hall? Some even say they wear red clothes. Who went there?” he asked.
Alli questioned how anyone could accurately portray witches or their activities when no one has confirmed witnessing them, adding that he would rather tell stories about situations people encounter in everyday life.
“Who is the witch that documented everything? How do witches even look? I can write about hit-and-run because it is real. Those are things people experience,” he said.
The actor also dismissed the idea of money rituals, arguing that the explanations often given about how they work do not make sense.
“I always say I do not believe in money rituals because I once asked them a question. They said a demon brings money. Does the demon have a printing machine? Will it steal money from the Central Bank of Nigeria or a Bureau de Change?” he said.
He added that when he challenged believers for evidence, they changed the narrative and claimed the money mysteriously came through contracts that were never applied for.
“I asked them, and they were confused, so they came up with another myth that the money comes through a contract that the person did not even bid for. I love realistic scripts. I do not believe in money rituals,” he added.
