Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has opened up about the importance of respect in her business, revealing that she carefully chooses the clients she works with regardless of their status.
During an interview, she was asked if there was any celebrity she would never want to dress again because of the way the person spoke to her.
Responding, Veekee said she prioritises respect over fame and is willing to turn down any client whose attitude does not align with her values.
“I choose my clients. If I can’t tolerate your energy, then I can’t dress you,” she said.
Explaining further, she noted that the way a potential client communicates with her can determine whether they end up working together.
“If you are a celebrity and you are communicating to me in a way that shows you don’t value my brand, acting like you are doing me a favour, then that’s the end of communication, we won’t talk beyond that stage, you can’t see yourself in Veekee James’s dress, so I can’t remember any celebrity in such situation.”
Veekee added that she has never regretted dressing any celebrity because she is intentional about the people she agrees to work with from the outset.
