A worker has died and seven others were injured after a section of the new Gombe State House of Assembly under construction collapsed on Friday.

The incident occurred during routine work, sending labourers fleeing for safety while others became trapped beneath the rubble. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and rescued the victims before they were taken to hospital.

The Head of Operations of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Gombe, Ummanah Ahmed, confirmed the incident.

According to him, three of the injured victims were taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe, while five others were evacuated to the Gombe State Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse as the injured workers continue to receive medical attention.
