A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the party.

The decision was announced on Monday by the factional Chairman in the state, Raji Sulaiman Zumo.

The same faction also suspended former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

The development is linked to the ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC, where another faction led by Nafiu Bala Gombe is also laying claim to the party’s national chairmanship.

The internal dispute has continued to deepen divisions within the party, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly distancing itself from the leadership under former Senate President David Mark due to the unresolved crisis.
