Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has publicly thrown his weight behind Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement came during a crucial APC caucus meeting attended by top party figures and stakeholders, where discussions centred on succession planning and early preparations for the next electoral cycle.

Speaking at the gathering, Abiodun signalled that the party had already reached a decision on its preferred candidate. “But first, we’ve decided who is deserving as the next flag bearer of our dear state.”

Moments after the remark, Adeola rose to his feet amid loud cheers, with supporters breaking into chants and celebratory music across the venue.

The governor also stressed the need for unity and continuity within the party, reflecting on past leadership transitions while urging members to rally behind a candidate capable of sustaining the APC’s dominance in Ogun State.
