Peter Obi has said he may leave the African Democratic Congress if its internal processes are compromised, stressing that he will not hesitate to walk away from any political arrangement that fails to uphold fairness.

Obi made the remark during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, where he also revisited his past political transitions and explained the reasons behind his decisions to leave previous parties.

Speaking on his movement from the Peoples Democratic Party, he traced his political journey back to his time in APGA, saying he left to avoid worsening internal and governance-related tensions.

“I moved from APGA to the PDP because of issues with my successor. Rather than allow it to become toxic and become destructive to the governance of the State, I moved out,” Obi said.

He described his experience in the PDP as frustrating, alleging that internal party practices had become transactional and unfair, especially during primaries.

“People were not playing by the rules. It was transactional. I cannot be part of a transactional primaries. I cannot be paying people to go and serve them,” Obi said.

He added that even after moving to the Labour Party, he still encountered similar systemic issues, which influenced his continued search for a political platform aligned with his principles.

“So I moved to Labour Party, and of course like I said, government came into same system, which is very clear, I escaped from the fire they started.”

Now in the ADC, Obi said he is still observing the party’s internal structure and warned that he would openly challenge any form of manipulation or compromise.

“I’m in ADC with the same people, some of whom have left PDP and other parties but we are going through the same process.

“If that process is again compromised, I will speak out.

“If I have to move 20 times, I will,” Obi emphasized.
