Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Tuesday, July 28, a work-free day for civil servants to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed.
According to the directive, all state government employees, including local government workers and staff of tertiary institutions, are to suspend official duties for the day in order to obtain their PVCs.
Governor Adeleke said the decision was taken to give public servants enough time to fulfil their civic responsibility before the August 15 governorship election and other future elections in the state.
He, however, clarified that workers providing essential services, including healthcare personnel and security operatives, should make adequate arrangements to ensure their duties continue without disruption.
The governor also encouraged both public servants and workers in the informal sector who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so promptly, describing the election as crucial to the future of Osun State.
