FC Barcelona secured the Spanish La Liga title in style after defeating fierce rivals Real Madrid CF 2-0 in Sunday night’s El Clasico showdown at Camp Nou.

The breakthrough came through Marcus Rashford, who fired home a superb free-kick to give Barcelona the advantage before Ferran Torres wrapped up the victory with a clinical second-half finish.

The result handed Hansi Flick’s side their 29th La Liga crown with three matches still remaining in the campaign.

Barcelona have now successfully defended the league title and moved closer to Real Madrid’s record haul, sitting seven trophies behind their long-time rivals.

The champions have been unstoppable in recent weeks, winning 11 consecutive league games to open up a commanding 14-point gap at the top of the table.

Their dominance at home has also been remarkable, with the win over Real Madrid extending their perfect home record to 18 victories from 18 league matches this season.

Real Madrid struggled throughout the encounter and managed only one shot on target in the entire game, the first time they have done so in a league fixture since February 2023.

Following the latest Clasico result, both clubs now have 106 wins each in the famous rivalry, with 52 draws recorded across 264 competitive meetings.
