A delegation from Chelsea Football Club paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi in Lagos on Sunday, in a meeting aimed at strengthening football and cultural ties.
The visiting team included former Super Eagles star and ex-Chelsea player Victor Moses, who featured prominently in the delegation.
During the visit, the monarch received the guests warmly and described the engagement as a positive step towards boosting football development, cultural exchange, and international collaboration.
In a post shared on Instagram, Oba Elegushi stressed the importance of building stronger relationships between global football institutions and local communities in Nigeria, particularly through youth-focused development programmes.
He also urged the English club to consider partnerships with local teams and football academies to help nurture young talents.
He wrote: “Today, I hosted a delegation from Chelsea Football Club, UK #chelseafc which also included our ex-international, Victor Moses #victormoses, accompanied by Chelsea Fans club, Nigeria.
“I am honoured by the visit and I use the opportunity to inform the Chelsea team to support our local clubs and football academies, exploring partnerships that will benefit of our teeming youths who want to play football.”
