Brazil have been dealt a major setback ahead of the World Cup after the national team confirmed that star forward Neymar has suffered a calf injury.
The injury, sustained by the Brazil national football team playmaker, is expected to keep him out for between two and three weeks, according to the team’s medical staff.
Medical examinations carried out on the Santos FC star confirmed the extent of the problem, ruling him out of Brazil’s upcoming friendly matches.
More importantly, Neymar is now set to miss Brazil’s opening World Cup clash against Morocco national football team on June 14.
The development has raised fresh concerns over whether head coach Carlo Ancelotti will be able to rely on his captain and number 10 later in the tournament as he continues his recovery.
