Chelsea Football Club have dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior following a poor run of results, with the decision coming shortly after their 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Tuesday night.

In an official statement, the club thanked Rosenior for his effort, professionalism and commitment since taking over mid-season, but said recent performances had fallen below the standards expected at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea explained that while the decision was difficult, it became necessary due to the team’s inconsistent form and inability to secure positive results in recent matches.

Following his departure, Calum McFarlane has been appointed as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. He will work closely with the club’s existing technical staff as Chelsea aim to stabilise their form.

The club also reaffirmed its short-term objectives, which include pushing for European qualification and advancing in the FA Cup, while a long-term search for a permanent manager is already underway.
