Burnley have officially been relegated after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at Turf Moor.
Although the Clarets delivered a disciplined and determined performance against the league leaders, their drop had looked inevitable for weeks. They remained stuck in the relegation zone alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers, who had already confirmed their own demotion.
Managed by Scott Parker, Burnley endured a difficult campaign, managing just four wins all season and only one since November. Their last home victory came in October, before a damaging seven-match losing run pushed them closer to relegation before the year’s end.
The outcome continues a familiar pattern for the club, marking a fifth straight season of either promotion to or relegation from the Premier League.
With four fixtures left to play, Burnley’s focus now shifts to avoiding their lowest-ever points tally in the top flight. They currently sit on 20 points, just four shy of their previous worst total recorded during the 2023/24 season under Vincent Kompany.
