The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has announced that it will hear Senegal’s appeal over the disputed 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final on October 8, 2026.
The hearing, confirmed in a statement issued on Friday, will take place at the court’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Senegal’s appeal pits the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
The FSF is seeking to overturn CAF’s ruling that declared Senegal to have forfeited the AFCON 2025 final and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory. The federation is also asking CAS to recognise Senegal as the rightful winners of the tournament.
CAS stated:
“The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirms a hearing has been scheduled for the procedure between the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation concerning the final of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
“The hearing will take place on 8 October 2026, at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.”
The arbitration body explained that the matter is following its normal procedures because none of the parties agreed to fast-track the appeal.
“The Parties did not agree to expedite this procedure, which is therefore following a standard timeline according to CAS procedural rules.”
CAS also disclosed that the hearing will not be open to the public, as no party requested a public session.
“This means it will take place behind closed doors.”
It further clarified that a verdict will not be delivered immediately after the hearing.
“After the hearing, the Panel will start its deliberations. At this stage, CAS cannot state when a final decision will be rendered but it will not be on the day of the hearing.”
The court also urged the public to disregard unofficial reports about the case, stressing that only announcements published through its official channels should be considered authentic.
“Only information provided through CAS channels is considered official and any announcement concerning this case will be published on the CAS website.”
