Chelsea have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for the transfer of French defender Maxence Lacroix as the Blues continue to reinforce their backline.
According to BBC Sport, both clubs have finalised negotiations, while the player’s personal terms are not expected to delay the move. Lacroix is now set to undergo a medical before completing his switch to Stamford Bridge.
The 26-year-old centre-back is expected to put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at Chelsea until 2032.
Chelsea moved for Lacroix following his standout performances at Crystal Palace, where he became a key figure in defence after arriving from German club Wolfsburg in August 2024.
Under manager Oliver Glasner, he played a major role in Palace’s UEFA Conference League triumph and their impressive performances in domestic competitions.
His consistent displays also earned him a place in France’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Standing at 6ft 4in, Lacroix is known for his dominance in the air, physical presence and pace in recovery. During the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, he was the only player to record at least 50 tackles, 200 duels won and 250 clearances, underlining his influence at the heart of Palace’s defence.
