Coventry City have completed the permanent signing of Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest.

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, both clubs reached an agreement for the 29-year-old forward, with Awoniyi undergoing his medical ahead of the move.

The transfer gives Frank Lampard another attacking option as Coventry continue their push for promotion. Awoniyi departs Forest after making more than 100 appearances for the club and contributing during their promotion campaign and fight for Premier League survival.

Forest supporters have paid tribute to the Nigerian striker, with some praising his contribution to the club and suggesting his absence could have contributed to relegation.

Meanwhile, Coventry fans have welcomed the arrival, with excitement growing over Awoniyi’s potential role in Lampard’s squad and the club’s promotion ambitions.
