Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that he will not play in another FIFA World Cup, confirming the current tournament will be the last of his legendary career.
The Portugal captain made the revelation while speaking to reporters on Sunday ahead of his country’s round-of-16 showdown with Spain.
The announcement follows recent comments from his sister, Katia Aveiro, who hinted that the Al Nassr forward was preparing to retire from international football after the competition.
Bringing an end to the speculation, Ronaldo said he has no plans to feature at the 2030 World Cup.
“Yes, it’s my last one. Let’s go and enjoy it,” he said.
The 41-year-old has already made history as the oldest footballer to compete in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments.
