There was a brief scene at the Kaduna State High Court on Monday involving former governor Nasir El-Rufai, who was overheard speaking about the upcoming African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention scheduled for Tuesday.

The opposition party has maintained that the convention will go ahead despite caution from the Independent National Electoral Commission advising against it.

El-Rufai, a key figure within the ADC, arrived at the court around 9 a.m. dressed in a white babban riga with an ash-coloured cap. As he walked in with his lawyers, holding a document, he briefly spoke with a loyalist.

“So tomorrow is the Convention, right?” he asked, and the aide replied, “God’s willing.”

He smiled in response before proceeding into the courtroom alongside one of his wives.

Security was visibly tight around the court, with heavy presence both within the premises and along nearby roads.
