Manchester City are reportedly close to finalising a verbal agreement with Enzo Maresca to become their next head coach, following reports that Pep Guardiola will step down at the end of the current season.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X, Maresca has accepted an initial three-year deal to take charge at the Etihad Stadium.
The development comes after widespread reports that Guardiola will leave his role after the final weekend of the Premier League season, with his last match expected to be against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Although the Spanish tactician still has a year remaining on his contract, it is understood he has made a personal decision to bring his successful decade-long spell at Manchester City to an end.
Club officials are said to have moved quickly for Maresca, identifying him as a top priority and a tactical fit for the team’s long-term philosophy as they prepare for a new era.
