Arsenal booked their place in the Champions League quarter-finals thanks to a moment of magic from Eberechi Eze, whose stunning strike proved decisive against Bayer Leverkusen.

Leverkusen goalkeeper Janis Blaswich had been in outstanding form, pulling off six early saves to frustrate Arsenal and keep the tie finely balanced following a 1-1 draw in the first leg. But his resistance was finally broken in spectacular fashion.

Eze, playing with confidence, brought the ball under control with his left foot before unleashing a thunderous half-volley from outside the box with his right, leaving Blaswich with no chance. It was a strike of exceptional power and precision, earning the forward his first Champions League goal and putting Arsenal ahead in a tense contest.

The 27-year-old marked the moment with a joyful celebration, pointing to the Arsenal badge on his shirt as he soaked in the atmosphere.

Supporters have begun calling him “Spring Eze” due to his tendency to peak towards the end of the season. His record backs it up, with a significant portion of his Premier League goals coming in April and May, and he has already found the net twice in March this campaign.

Declan Rice later sealed the win with a composed side-footed finish into the bottom corner from distance, confirming Arsenal’s progression.

They will now face Sporting Lisbon in the quarter-finals.
