Nollywood actor Francis Duru has debunked viral reports claiming he is critically ill, describing the claims as false and the work of individuals spreading misinformation online for attention.
He said the rumours had caused unnecessary worry among friends, colleagues, and fans who reached out to confirm his condition, stressing that he is in good health and has never suffered any severe illness as alleged.
He further criticised the spread of fabricated stories on social media, saying some people deliberately create negative content about others just to gain traffic. Duru also questioned the growing misuse of digital tools and artificial intelligence in circulating false narratives, insisting that he remains strong and active.
According to him, the video being shared was entirely misleading and not a reflection of reality. He added that those responsible for spreading such content should be held accountable, while reaffirming his faith and wellbeing.
In his words:
“I am making this video with regards to very wicked videos circulating around about me being sick to the level that you could see in that video. Well, I have never been that sick and will never be that sick. And by God’s grace, we keep being stronger and stronger.
That video is a handiwork of merchants of darkness, of wickedness, people who sit and concoct negativity for people. You just don’t want to see people rise. You just don’t believe in people’s success all in the course of driving traffic.
And if this is what social media is all about or AI. Then we are in big trouble indeed. But this is just to let you guys know that this is me talking to you. Anything beyond this is their business. But I believe God will reach out to the guys who are doing this very soon.
