Brenda Fricker, the acclaimed Irish actress best known for her role in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, has died at the age of 81.
Her manager, Phil Belfield, confirmed to TMZ that Fricker passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
In a heartfelt tribute, Belfield reflected on the actress’s remarkable legacy, saying her impact on the entertainment industry would never be forgotten.
“We will never see her like again and the world is lesser for the lack of her. I was honored to know, love and work with her and she will always have a place in my heart and in the heart of so many film and TV fans the world love,” he said.
Fricker built an illustrious career spanning more than 60 years, becoming one of Ireland’s most celebrated actresses through memorable performances in film, television and theatre.
Born in Dublin on February 17, 1945, she initially worked in journalism before discovering her passion for acting. She made her screen debut in 1964 with an uncredited role in Of Human Bondage, marking the beginning of a distinguished career that earned international recognition.
