United States Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have announced the arrival of their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance.
The couple shared the joyful news on Sunday, revealing that their son was born at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” they said in a statement, adding, “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”
The newest addition joins the couple’s three other children—Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel. JD and Usha first met while attending Yale Law School, where they both graduated in 2013.
Alec’s birth is also historically significant, making him the first child born to a sitting U.S. vice president in over 150 years. The last similar case dates back to 1870, when Vice President Schuyler Colfax welcomed his son while serving in office.
Vance, a former U.S. Marine, has long championed family values and has repeatedly encouraged policies aimed at addressing America’s declining birth rate.
