Nigerian rapper YCee has maintained his stance on the controversial “Olodo uprising” comment, making it clear that he has no intention of apologising or taking back his statement despite the criticism it has attracted.
Responding to the backlash, the rapper said many people had misunderstood his comments, insisting that his message was directed at the growing popularity of what he described as “brain-rot” content rather than at any individual.
“Some people are saying I shouldn’t have called Peller’s name, but I said what I said. If you feel offended, you should check yourself. A lot of people are also taking what I said out of context. The olodo uprising is even worse than I thought because there are so many people coming out to defend it.
“My call is to people that are tired of brain-rot contents. There is no reason why intelligent people cannot be streamers or content creators,” he stated.
YCee’s remarks come after his earlier criticism sparked widespread debate online, with many social media users and content creators weighing in on his comments about the state of online entertainment.
The rapper has now reaffirmed that he stands by his position, arguing that there is room for more intellectually engaging content in Nigeria’s digital space.
