Desmond Elliot has publicly sought forgiveness from his political mentor and presidential Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over any wrongdoing or misunderstanding that may have occurred between them during recent political developments in Lagos.

The Surulere lawmaker made the appeal while appearing on TVC’s “Your View” programme on Friday, where he spoke about their long-standing relationship and the tensions that emerged during the Lagos Assembly leadership crisis.

According to Elliot, Gbajabiamila played a major role in shaping his political career, describing him as someone he learnt politics from over the years.

“Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him,” he said.

The political rift reportedly stemmed from the controversy surrounding alleged attempts to remove Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa. During the crisis, Gbajabiamila disclosed that President Bola Tinubu confronted him over reports linking Elliot to the impeachment plot, a claim the actor-turned-politician denied.

Reacting to the situation, Elliot admitted that disagreements are bound to happen in politics and appealed for forgiveness if he had caused any offence.

“To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way,” he stated.

He also extended the apology to the woman he referred to as the “matriarch of Surulere.”

“To the matriarch of Surulere, mama, I’m sorry if I’ve offended you,” he added.

Despite the controversy, Elliot insisted he remains committed to strengthening the party and continuing developmental efforts in his constituency.

“But I will keep keeping the party strong. And to all Surulerians, my scorecard is there. You know the things I’ve done to make Surulere a better place,” he said.
