Ireti Kingibe, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, has denied reports claiming she was summoned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over an alleged ₦100 million kickback linked to a “fake contract.”

In a statement posted on her social media pages on Tuesday, Kingibe described the report as false and insisted she has never been invited, questioned, or contacted by the ICPC regarding any corruption allegation.

She said there is no instance in which the anti-graft agency reached out to her for clarification on any issue, stressing that the claims were entirely unfounded.

The senator also rejected any suggestion that she is involved in contract awards, explaining that lawmakers do not execute or award constituency projects. According to her, such projects are handled by relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in line with established government processes.

Kingibe argued that linking her to contract awards reflects either a misunderstanding of how governance works or a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

She further raised concerns about the timing of the publication, noting that it appeared shortly after her interview on ARISE Television, where she said she spoke openly on national issues and held the government accountable.

According to her, this sequence suggests a pattern aimed at silencing dissenting voices.

“This pattern is not lost on discerning observers. It is becoming increasingly evident that those who choose to speak truth to power must now contend not only with resistance but also with calculated attempts at intimidation and character assassination,” she said.

Kingibe maintained that she would not be intimidated or silenced, reaffirming her commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership.

She added that she expects more attempts to discredit her but said they will not deter her from speaking out on issues affecting Nigerians.
