Actress Etinosa Idemudia has said that marriage and having children should not be regarded as life achievements, urging people to stop using them as the yardstick for measuring a person’s success.
Speaking in a recent interview, the actress also addressed what she described as the double standards women face in society.
According to her:
“Marriage is not an achievement, having children is not an achievement. If they’ve never called you Ashawo in this life as a woman, it means you’re not successful.
Women are often labeled as ‘Ashawo,’ even though there are men who also sleep with people to get what they want.”
Etinosa also shared her thoughts on what distinguishes successful actors from others in the movie industry, saying she believes grace is more important than hard work alone.
“The difference between successful actors and not successful actors. I feel like it’s grace. Hard work is part of it, but I can never say hard work is all of it.”
Speaking about parenting, she said one of the greatest lessons she hopes to teach her daughter is the importance of self-respect and self-worth.
“If I don’t teach my daughter anything, I will teach her how to respect herself, how to value herself.”
She added that a woman who understands her value is less likely to tolerate disrespect and encouraged women to avoid comparing themselves to others, choosing inspiration instead of jealousy while remaining confident in their own worth.
