Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has shared the personal reason she remains highly cautious about her daughter Priscilla’s safety.
The actress said her experience as a rape survivor has strongly influenced the way she protects her daughter, especially since Priscilla started university.
Iyabo recalled that her level of caution became so noticeable that Priscilla once asked her, “Mum, don’t you trust me?”
She explained that she would expect Priscilla to call her before leaving school and would also arrange for a staff member to accompany her.
According to Iyabo, her protective nature is not about doubting her daughter but about the fear created by her own past experience.
“I’m overprotective of my daughter, Priscilla. When she went to university, she asked, ‘Mum, don’t you trust me?’” she said.
The actress added, “I make sure she calls me before leaving school and has a staff member with her.”
She further explained her concern around leaving Priscilla alone with men, saying, “I never leave her with a man because I’m a rape survivor.”
