Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that the death of his mother earlier this year was the reason he took a break from music.

The singer disclosed this on Friday while responding to a fan on X who had assumed that he had been away from the music scene because he was working on a new album. The development was also reported by Punch and Daily Post on September 26, 2026.

The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had suggested that working on an album was responsible for Kizz Daniel’s reduced activity.

However, the singer clarified that his absence was linked to the loss of his mother rather than a new music project.

Kizz Daniel said, “I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year.”

The revelation gives further context to the singer’s relatively low profile earlier in the year, as he took time away from his usual music activities following the loss. He also apologised to fans for returning later than expected.

Despite the personal loss, Kizz Daniel indicated that he is moving forward for the sake of his family and has resumed his music activities.

The singer has experienced other personal losses in the past. His father died in 2015, while one of his triplets died in 2021. In 2025, Kizz Daniel also disclosed that his wife had lost her mother in 2024.

His latest disclosure has prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans, many of whom expressed sympathy for the singer and his family following the news of his mother’s death.
