Ligue 1 side Lille have appointed Davide Ancelotti as their new head coach on a two-year contract.
The 36-year-old Italian takes over the role after working as an assistant to his father, Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti, ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
Lille did not clarify whether he will combine the job with his duties for Brazil once he officially begins work at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
“I’m very proud and happy,” Ancelotti said. “It’s an honour to represent Lille.
“They are a serious, ambitious, competitive club who are regularly playing European football.”
The appointment marks only the second head coaching role of his career. He previously managed Brazilian side Botafogo between July and December last year.
His spell in Brazil ended after Botafogo finished sixth in the league and were eliminated from the Copa Libertadores in the round of 16 by Ecuador’s LDU Quito.
Ancelotti, a former AC Milan youth player, began his coaching journey in 2016 and has served as an assistant under his father at Napoli, Bayern Munich, Everton and Real Madrid.
He replaces Bruno Genesio, who left Lille after both parties agreed to end their collaboration following the expiry of his two-year contract.
Genesio guided Lille to fifth place in the 2024–25 season before improving to third in 2025–26, securing Champions League qualification.
