The search for a missing NYSC member in Bayelsa State has ended in heartbreak after his body was reportedly discovered in Nembe Local Government Area.
The deceased, identified as Okebaram Stanley Chimaroke, was serving as a corps member in the area before his death. He was a Civil Engineering graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede and previously served as the Student Union Government (SUG) president of the institution.
Reports from sources familiar with the incident stated that Chimaroke’s remains were found in a body of water within Nembe. There were claims that he may have been attacked by unknown individuals before his death, though authorities have not confirmed those allegations.
Following his disappearance, the Bayelsa State Police Command began efforts to locate him and investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that police sources said the incident was brought to their attention around 8:40 p.m. on July 25, 2026, by a fellow corps member, Aribisola Bisi Isaac, who was accompanied by Adeola Marvelous.
According to the report, the Local Government Inspector revealed that the 27-year-old corps member, who was posted to Nembe Creek, was last seen at about 8:00 p.m. on July 24.
Attempts to contact him through his phone lines reportedly failed, leading to concerns and prompting further action from security authorities.
The police subsequently sent personnel to the creek community, which is about a 45-minute boat ride from the Nembe Divisional Headquarters, as they commenced a search and investigation.
As of the latest update, the police had not released an official statement confirming the exact cause of Chimaroke’s death, with investigations still ongoing.
