The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has launched a manhunt for one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, over allegations that he supplied military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Corps’ Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko, the Army said preliminary investigations indicated that Amutu, who served at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, went absent without leave on June 3, 2026.
Following the findings, the military said the soldier has been officially declared wanted, with security operatives working to locate and arrest him for further investigation and possible disciplinary action.
The Army reaffirmed its strict stance against misconduct, stressing that any personnel involved in the unauthorized sale or diversion of military uniforms, equipment or other controlled items would be prosecuted under both military and civilian laws.
It also appealed to Nigerians to provide credible information that could assist in Amutu’s arrest, encouraging anyone with useful details to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The Corps added that it remains committed to upholding professionalism, accountability and the protection of military assets, while ensuring that all cases of alleged misconduct are thoroughly investigated.
