The Ondo State Police Command has disrupted a suspected bomb plot in Akure, arresting six individuals and recovering items believed to be materials for making improvised explosive devices.

Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, revealed this during a press briefing on Thursday, saying the operation marked a major success in ongoing efforts to address rising security concerns in the state.

He explained that the arrests were carried out on April 15, 2026, after the police received credible intelligence about a suspected criminal network operating within and outside Ondo State.

Acting on the information, operatives moved quickly to a location in Akure, where the suspects were intercepted before they could allegedly carry out the planned attack.

A follow-up search of the area and a residence linked to the suspects in the Oke-Odu axis led to the recovery of several items, including 217 bottles, a bag of sugar, charms, 17 mobile phones, ₦187,000 in cash, two laptops, eight slings, a knife, an external hard drive, identity cards, a National Identity Number (NIN) card, and two motorcycles.
