Online reactions have intensified following reports that Omega Power Ministries (OPM), led by Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has halted plans for the proposed marriage of his 21-year-old autistic daughter, Chiemeka Chibuzor.
The controversy began when the cleric publicly announced he was seeking a “young able-bodied man” to marry her. The statement quickly drew massive attention, with hundreds of men reportedly showing interest. Some submitted written requests, while others recorded video messages, expressing willingness to love and care for her.
The development, however, sparked strong criticism across social media, with many raising concerns about consent and the vulnerability of those involved. The situation also reignited discussions linked to a previous controversy involving the pastor’s autistic son, which had already stirred public debate.
Amid growing backlash, the church later confirmed that the wedding plans had been suspended. In a Facebook post, OPM stated: “Chiemeka Chibuzor wedding is hereby suspended,” adding that over a thousand applications had been received. “More than a thousand applications. No more wedding, Pending further directive from me HRM King, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere.”
