The Oyo State Police Command has rescued Busola Adelabu, the sister of APC governorship aspirant Bayo Adelabu, along with her two children, following a late-night operation that led to the arrest of four suspected kidnappers.
The rescue mission was carried out on Saturday in the Ayegun area of Oluyole Local Government Area, where security operatives stormed a hideout believed to be occupied by the abductors.
During the operation, police recovered several weapons, including a pump-action gun, from the suspects.
The victims were reportedly found inside a three-bedroom bungalow where they had been held captive.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, disclosed that the operation was launched after officers received credible information about the kidnappers’ location.
“The police acted on a tip-off, which eventually resulted in the rescuing of the victims,” he said.
A fierce exchange of gunfire reportedly occurred during the midnight raid, resulting in the death of two of the suspected kidnappers.
Police confirmed that four suspects were apprehended, while some members of the gang escaped with gunshot wounds and are being tracked by security agencies.
