A Nigerian influencer, Papaya Ex, has responded to allegations making rounds online involving a dispute with a videographer identified as Emma and issues surrounding her former personal assistant, who is his 19-year-old sister.
The controversy began after Emma released a video accusing Papaya Ex of taking his phone during a confrontation. He also alleged that her mother assaulted him with a shovel, leaving him with a dislocated arm.
He claimed his sister had worked as Papaya Ex’s personal assistant for about a month before issues began. According to him, the young woman misplaced a ₦16 Pro Max iPhone during a movie premiere and later stopped receiving her ₦120,000 monthly salary for three months. He also accused her of spending ₦270,000 belonging to Papaya Ex, which was meant for urgent use.
Emma further alleged that when he tried to intervene and beg on her behalf, the situation escalated, saying he was embarrassed and forced to strip down to his boxers during the encounter. He added that Papaya Ex eventually took his phone, and he now fears for his safety.
As the story spread online, Papaya Ex shared her own version of events. She stated that the total package paid to the PA was about ₦300,000 monthly and that she was also trusted with handling funds. She claimed the initial ₦200,000 allegedly taken was used for Emma.
She admitted collecting Emma’s phone but said it was because he allegedly refused to stand as guarantor for his sister at the police station and threatened to leave the situation entirely.
Papaya Ex also insisted that the total amount involved in the financial issue was about ₦560,000, adding that the former PA was responsible for managing her account and had mishandled funds as well as luxury devices, including iPhones.
A recorded phone call shared online also showed Emma stating that his sister did not “steal” the money but had only “spent” funds that were not hers.
Papaya Ex expressed disappointment over the backlash, saying she had shown the young woman kindness through salary payments and additional allowances, and maintained that she did not deserve the treatment she was receiving.
