Lagos nightlife entrepreneur and socialite Mike Nwogu has revealed that he invested over N100 million in upgrading his nightclub, Proxy Lagos, after it was shut down following a raid by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
He explained that the club remained closed for around nine months, a situation he described as both financially draining and emotionally challenging for him and his team. According to him, the period away from business operations forced a full rethink of the brand and its future direction.
Speaking to journalists at the club, he said the decision to renovate was part of a broader effort to relaunch the space in a better form for patrons after the disruption.
“I spent over N100 million renovating the club. After everything that happened, I felt there was a need to rebuild and create something even better for people who support my business,” he said.
Despite the setback, he said he managed to remain financially stable through multiple income sources and backing from people around him.
“The brand, Pretty Mike, is always making money. That is what has kept me afloat regardless,” he stated.
He also pointed out that his business portfolio extends beyond nightlife, noting his involvement in construction and property development.
“I have a construction firm. I’m also slightly into real estate where I build and sell properties. Then, of course, there’s family support. People feel safe investing with me because they know I’m not the type to disappear,” he added.
