Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has denied reports that he angrily walked out of the wedding of TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis over comments comparing Wizkid to his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
The musician attended the couple’s wedding but was seen leaving before the celebration ended, leading to widespread speculation online.
Several viral videos claimed Seun left after the event’s master of ceremonies allegedly declared Wizkid bigger than Fela. In one of the clips, he was heard saying he was in the wrong place, a remark that fueled the rumours.
Addressing the claims while speaking with Fuji singer Malaika, Seun described the reports as false. He explained that he left the venue because he wanted to visit the New Afrika Shrine and not because he was offended by anything said at the wedding.
He said:
“I left the wedding to go to the Shrine, and these bloggers twisted things, saying I was angry. Maybe I should have danced out of the ceremony.”
His comments have now put to rest the speculation that his departure was linked to the comparison between Wizkid and the late Afrobeat icon.
