Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has alleged that certain politicians are sponsoring the kidnappers responsible for the abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, warning that he may publicly reveal their identities.
Speaking during a meeting with the newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde in Ibadan, Igboho claimed he knows those backing the criminals and accused them of supplying funds and weapons.
He said he had volunteered to confront the kidnappers and flush them out of their hideouts but was allegedly prevented from doing so by the state government.
According to him, the abductors later threatened to kill the victims if he attempted any rescue mission.
“If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee. They are neither gnomes nor mannequins; they are humans, so that they could be dislodged. I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop perpetrating their evil acts, I will mention them all. I know them. The politicians behind them are the ones giving them ammunition and money,” he said.
Igboho further alleged that some political actors are deliberately trying to destabilise the country and undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration through insecurity and misinformation.
“The same thing they did to Jonathan is what they are doing to Tinubu. They want to make the country ungovernable for him. They even have fake news propaganda to scare the masses and divert supporters away from the President,” he said.
The activist also maintained that despite receiving federal approval for his “Iru Ekun” security network, he was warned not to intervene in the kidnapping case, insisting he remains willing to help secure the release of the abducted children.
