Nigerian singer Tems has issued an apology after mistakenly calling Sasha Obama “Sandra” during her performance at the opening celebration of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.
The Grammy-winning artist made the slip while addressing the audience on stage, later admitting that nerves played a role in the error.
“Lord knows I was nervous. Please forgive me,” she said, acknowledging the mix-up shortly after realizing the mistake.
Tems went on to clarify the moment and offered an apology for incorrectly stating Sasha Obama’s name during the star-studded event, which drew several high-profile guests and performers.
