Nigerian singer Tems has shut down speculation about a possible romance with Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, making it clear that she has no intention of pursuing a relationship with him.
During a recent interview, the Grammy-winning singer first reflected on the growing global influence of African music, expressing pride in the achievements of Nigerian and African artists.
“It’s amazing coming from Nigeria. I’m just really happy where African music is going right now. Everybody’s popping off and everybody’s shining. So I’m just happy to be a part of that.”
The conversation later shifted to Maduka Okoye when the interviewer asked if she knew the footballer.
Tems initially laughed before responding, “Do I know him personally?” She briefly paused and added, “I think I do. No, no, no, no, no. I don’t.”
When the interviewer jokingly suggested that she could “shoot her shot,” the singer immediately dismissed the idea.
“Shoot? No, no, no, we don’t shoot shots here. We’re friends. We ‘friend’ each other and we’re family. No shots.”
Although the exchange was lighthearted, Tems made it clear that she sees Okoye strictly as a friend, putting to rest any speculation about a romantic relationship between them.
