The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrest of three people in connection with the fatal stabbing of British-Nigerian singer and songwriter Talay Riley, an incident that has triggered a murder investigation in East London.

Riley, whose real name is Mark Orabiyi, was found with stab wounds on Friday, June 5, after police responded to reports of violence in Silvertown.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived at a property on Rayleigh Road, where the 35-year-old was discovered seriously injured in the garden. Despite emergency treatment, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a follow-up statement, police said three suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the incident. A 27-year-old man has since been released on bail pending further inquiries, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released without further action after questioning. Investigations are still ongoing.

Authorities also confirmed that a second victim, a man in his 20s, suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, described the case as tragic and called for public assistance.

“This is a tragic incident, and my thoughts remain with Mark’s family and loved ones. Our investigation continues at pace. I would like to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident to speak to the police,” she said.
