The family of late Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has appealed to the public to stop spreading false reports about the circumstances surrounding her death, describing the claims circulating on social media as misleading and unauthorized.

In an official statement released after her passing, the family said it was deeply saddened by the wave of unverified stories making the rounds online, stressing that the reports had added to their grief during an already painful period.

“At this difficult time, we wish to categorically state that the numerous claims circulating on social media and various blogs regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized. We respectfully urge the public to refrain from sharing or promoting misinformation that only adds to the pain our family is already enduring,” the statement read.

The family also appealed for privacy as they mourn, urging members of the public and the media to avoid sensational narratives and rely only on official updates from authorized representatives.

“Should there be any information the family wishes to make public, it will be communicated through our official channels and by authorized representatives only. We ask the public and members of the media to rely solely on those official statements and to disregard all unverified reports,” the statement added.

The statement, signed by the Awonuga/Osoba family, concluded by thanking well-wishers for their prayers, love and support while asking that Tope Osoba’s memory and the family’s privacy be respected during this difficult time.
