The United States and Iran have reportedly reached an agreement to halt hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, according to statements attributed to U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian officials.

Trump announced the development on Truth Social, describing the deal as finalised and confirming what he called the lifting of restrictions affecting maritime movement in the strategic waterway.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” he wrote. “I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

Shortly before Trump’s post, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced that a peace agreement had been reached between Washington and Tehran following what he described as intensive negotiations.

“Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED,” Sharif said on X, adding that both sides had agreed to end military operations immediately.

He further noted that a formal signing ceremony was expected to take place in Switzerland on Friday, with additional discussions planned before the implementation phase.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, through the semi-official Tasnim news agency, confirmed that under the agreement, all military actions would cease “immediately and permanently from tonight,” alongside the end of the naval blockade.
