Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has set a new global milestone after becoming the first African artist to surpass 11 billion streams across all credits on Spotify.

The achievement places him in an elite group of global music heavyweights and further strengthens his status as one of Africa’s most successful musical exports on streaming platforms.

His massive streaming numbers have been driven by a strong catalog of international hits and collaborations, including Drake’s global smash “One Dance,” as well as his own chart-topping songs like “Essence” featuring Tems, which became a worldwide anthem.

Wizkid’s critically acclaimed body of work, including his Made in Lagos project and its deluxe edition, has also contributed significantly to his streaming success, attracting millions of listeners across different continents.

The latest record comes after he previously became the first African artist to reach 10 billion Spotify streams earlier in 2026, showing a steady rise in his global digital impact.

With this new milestone, Wizkid continues to push Afrobeats further onto the world stage, reinforcing the genre’s growing influence in mainstream global music.
