Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has disclosed that he spent as much as $400 every day on Nigerian food while living in the United States because he couldn’t do without his favourite local meals.
The Grammy-winning singer made the revelation in a recent interview, explaining that his two-year stay in the US became frustrating due to the limited availability of Nigerian cuisine.
According to Wizkid, he regularly spent between $300 and $400 daily just to enjoy meals from home.
Despite his global fame and taste for luxury fashion, the singer said his eating habits have never changed, insisting he remains a “local boy” at heart.
“I only eat Nigerian food everywhere I go. I got bored staying in the USA for 2 years because I wasn’t getting Nigerian food as much as I wanted.
“I used to spend $300 to $400 every single day for 2 years in the US just to have a taste of Nigerian food. I’m a local boy o. Forget all this Louis Vuitton Gucci stuff. I love what I love, you know. You can take the boy out of the ghetto but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy,” he said.
