Aston Villa have struck a deal with Chelsea to bring Alejandro Garnacho to Villa Park on a season-long loan for the 2026/27 campaign, with the agreement including an obligation to make the move permanent.
The 22-year-old Argentina international has already undergone his medical in Birmingham and is set to sign a four-year contract if the transfer becomes permanent at the end of the loan spell.
Although neither club has revealed the exact details of the buy clause, it is believed the condition will be activated once Garnacho meets certain appearance targets during the season. Chelsea are reportedly confident those requirements will be fulfilled, allowing them to receive around £43 million for the winger.
Garnacho’s exit comes shortly after Chelsea completed the club-record signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a deal worth £117 million.
Villa continue to strengthen their squad, with Garnacho expected to become their fourth arrival this summer after Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cisse.
The Midlands club have also generated close to £200 million from player sales, with Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea and Lewis Dobbin all departing.
Chelsea, meanwhile, were willing to let Garnacho leave despite signing him from Manchester United for £40 million less than a year ago. His time at Stamford Bridge was underwhelming, producing just one Premier League goal, while the arrivals of Morgan Rogers and Geovany Quenda further reduced his chances of regular playing time.
