Arise TV presenter Oseni Rufai became overwhelmed with emotion while revisiting the death of Musa Uba, the senior military officer killed during a terrorist ambush in Borno State in November 2025.

During a live programme, Rufai reflected on the painful details of the incident, saying the memory continues to weigh heavily on him. He recounted how the commander reportedly reached out for help after his unit was attacked while on an operation, sending a distress message despite his phone battery running low.

“Dr Abati, I feel like crying. General Uba was in the bush. He had low battery and made a message saying ‘please come and save me,’”

According to Rufai, that desperate call for rescue never received a timely response before the attackers closed in.

“The next thing we heard was that the bandits caught him and killed him. Remember how General Uba’s wife cried that we let General Uba down,”

Musa Uba was the Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade based in Damboa, Borno State.
