Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has publicly expressed disappointment in Baba Ijesha, accusing the embattled actor of betrayal despite his past support.
Yomi, who was vocal in defending Baba Ijesha during his legal troubles, revealed that their relationship has now turned sour, claiming the ex-convict no longer shows loyalty.
Recall that Yomi had strongly challenged allegations made by Iyabo Ojo and comedian Princess, insisting Baba Ijesha was wrongly accused of assaulting a minor at the time. He said he went all out, risking his reputation and influence to support him and push for an appeal.
However, the actor now claims his efforts have been repaid with hostility.
“Baba Ijesha thinks he has arrived, right? I put my life down for him. I took bullets for him and carried his cross. The little fame and influence I have built for myself, I used it to save him. I do good to people, yet they pay me back with evil. I did everything for Baba Ijesha in order for him to get an appeal. I told him the steps I was taking on his case so that Nigerians could know the truth, yet he sent a man to me to threaten me not to say anything about his case again,” he said.
Yomi also alleged that Baba Ijesha deliberately sidelined him after regaining public attention, including failing to acknowledge him among those who stood by him.
“When he went to the studio to sing, he thought he could disgrace me. He mentioned the names of people who stood by him, and he never mentioned my name. You can’t be doing evil to people and not experience evil. May we not fight for someone God is punishing,” he added.
He further lamented the backlash he continues to face due to his past association with Baba Ijesha, revealing that some Nigerians now label him negatively because of the situation.
“Till now, everyone is tagging me that I am supporting a paedophile just because of him. I was at the American embassy one day when one lady started shouting at me because of Baba Ijesha. I am always fighting for women, yet everything was turned against me because of him,” he said.
