Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has once again stirred online debate after launching another round of criticism against Peter Obi, questioning both his identity and leadership approach.
In a fresh statement shared online, Edochie argued that Obi does not embody what he described as the core values of the Igbo people. According to him, the true Igbo spirit is rooted in the principle of “onye aghana nwanne ya,” which emphasizes lifting others while progressing in life.
“Peter Obi is not a true Igbo man. He does not have the spirit of Ndi Igbo in him. He’s not a leader,” he said.
The actor went on to criticize Obi’s years in business and politics, claiming there is no clear evidence of individuals who have benefited directly from his success or influence.
“How can you spend many years in power, many years as a successful business man, yet nobody can say he’s successful today because of you? You can’t even lift your family members.”
Edochie contrasted this with his own experience in Nollywood, insisting that some people can point to him as a contributor to their success.
“In Nollywood, there are people who will tell you they’re successful today because of Yul Edochie. Not one person can say that about Peter Obi.”
He also questioned Obi’s use of influence and privilege, suggesting that leadership should begin with impacting those closest to you.
“Are you a saddist? What are you doing with the power God has given you? If you can’t lift people around you out of poverty, you simply can’t lift Nigeria out of poverty.”
His comments have since fueled widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians divided over his remarks.
