A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has directed that blogger Chidiebere Justice Mark be kept in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) after he was brought before the court over allegations of spreading false information about the Nigerian military.

Mark, identified as a resident of Plot 88, Sabo Lugbe, Abuja, is facing a three-count charge linked to a viral video he posted on his X account, “Justice Crack,” in which he claimed that soldiers are poorly fed.

He pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him. Following this, prosecuting counsel Emmanuel Orubo asked the court to fix a date for trial and requested that the defendant be remanded in DSS custody.

His lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, made an oral request for bail, but the court declined to consider it, instructing that a formal application be filed instead.

Delivering her ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered that Mark be remanded in DSS custody and adjourned the case until May 25, 2026, for the commencement of trial and the hearing of any bail application.
